Gabe Newell has stated that Valve's goal is to bring Steamworks, similar to what was seen in Portal 2 for PS3 to Xbox Live for its future shooter, Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

In order to do this though, there are several requirements that must be met in order for Microsoft to give the okay for this additional feature. The benefits that having Steamworks on the platform will soon be seen for PS3 owners as the integration into that console will allow users to easily access the upcoming DLC slated for a September release.

Newell believes that Microsoft allowing Steamworks integration into XBL is essential to bring all games on parity cross platform.
