Columbus Nova has acquired Sony Online Entertainment from its parent company. The company will be rebranded as Daybreak Game Company.
The developer and publisher will now serve as an independent game development studio and will "continue to focus on creating exceptional online games for players around the world, and now as a multi-platform gaming company."
"This name embodies who we are as an organization, and is a nod to the passion and dedication of our employees and players." stated the company about its rebranding. "It is also representative of our vision to approach each new day as an opportunity to move gaming forward."
Columbus Nova is an investment firm based from New York that manages over $15 billion of assets through its own funds and affiliated portfolio companies.
John Smedley, President of Daybreak Company took to Twitter this morning saying that he was excited for the opportunity that the acquisition will bring for the company.
"Can't wait to make Xbox One games!" he stated.
