At SCEA's holiday media event in Toronto, we had an opportunity to check out Ubisoft's upcoming Star Wars: Lethal Alliance on the PSP. Set for release in early December, the game takes place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Episode IV: A New Hope, with the goal to fill in the gaps that George Lucas left hanging in the movies. With that said, it's more difficult then you'd probably think, as it's a well known fact that Star Wars fans demand a high attention to detail when it comes to the Lucas masterpiece.
One of the first Star Wars games to be released exclusively to the handheld market; you'll start the game with a character named Twi'lek Rianna Saren, and her buddy, a security droid named Zeeo. You have been hired by the Rebel Alliance and must work together to infiltrate Imperial planets and fight legions of evil characters. You are told that your ultimate goal is to uncover the Empire's most deadly secret, the Death Star.
With the two characters paired up, gamers will have to use the acrobatic skills of Rianna and the aid of the ever so practical droid Zeeo to travel trough the levels and accomplish their missions. Whether it is to avoid being discovered by the Imperial Guard, flying out of danger, or manning the gun turrets, the objectives are quite varied.
Along your journey through the galaxies, you'll encounter many of the common destinations such as Tatooine, the Death Star, and I'm told that it will allow you to discover more about the Danuta, Despayre, and the Alderaan locations from which we've heard so much about. For each new location you visit in the game, you will get to encounter a variety of Star Wars personalities and species, including Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, Kyle Katarn, Imperial officers, Storm Troopers, Quarren and Rodians.
The Force seems very strong with this title; we'll have to see how it shapes up when it ships early next month.
