While Ubisoft already has their own CGI studio and have acquired Hybride, a special effects company, they've decided to add to their film-family by launching their very own film studio. A new division, named Ubisoft Motion Pictures in Paris, has been opened up by the company, and will be headed by EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.
What does this mean for Ubisoft? The ability to adapt their own franchises, including titles like Splinter Cell, into films and TV shows on their own accord. After the huge success of last year's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie, it looks like they see the worth behind expanding the franchise experience into different mediums, for spectator and company alike.
