Today Nintendo revealed new hardware for 3DS gamers minus the third dimension.

Called the Nintendo 2DS, the handheld device will function just like a 3DS, minus the ability to render games in 3D.

The 2DS will not be able to fold, but will still be able to play all 3DS games, connect to the net via WiFi and access the Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo states that that this device is targeted to younger gamers and makes Nintendo games "even more accessible."

The Nintendo 2DS will arrive in stores on October 12 in blue and red models for $129.99.
