A new Yoshi's Island game was announced today for the Nintendo 3DS.

During the Nintendo Direct Press video today, some of the gameplay was featured. In it it showed Yoshi performing some of his signature moves from the original title such as his ground pound and egg throwing, but Satoru Iwata, Global President of Nintendo, also stated that new moves will be available that fully incorporate the 3D technology of the handheld.

One new feature attack showed Yoshi getting a giant egg and when throwing it, can destroy entire sections of a level.

No release date for the game has been made available at this time.
