During the Nintendo Direct broadcast this morning, Nintendo called 2013 the year of Luigi, and they are giving him a starring role in the next Mario & Luigi title.

Called Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Mario traverses inside his brother's mind while he sleeps. He will have to solve puzzles as well as overcome enemies using his own skills as well as his brother's body to get through them.  One screen will be devoted to Luigi's face where you can interact with it to cause the inside of his mind to change. For example, tickle his nose and blocks can rotate.

The game is scheduled to release this summer for the Nintendo 3DS.
