Don Mattrick, President of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, has left the company and has become the new CEO of Zynga.
In a press release by Zynga, the company states that Mattrick will take over the CEO effective July 8. Mark Pincus, the company's former CEO will remain Chairman of the Board and Chief Product Officer of Zynga.
"Don is unique in the game business" stated Pincus. "“He can execute in multiple domains – hardware, software and network, and he’s been the person responsible for game franchises like ‘Need for Speed,’ ‘FIFA’ and ‘The Sims.’ He’s one of the top executives in the overall entertainment business and he’s a great coach who has inspired people to do their best work and build strong, productive teams."
Mattrick had been with Microsoft since 2007. Before that he had been with Electronic Arts before his retirement from the company in 2006.
