Finalists for the Canadian Videogame Awards have been announced, and plenty of familiar names are amongst the nominees.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP leads the way with nine nominations, followed closely by Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine with eight nods apiece. Superbrothers, Assassin's Creed and Deus Ex will be going head-to-head in several of the 14 categories, most notably in the Game of the Year contest, where they'll be battling against FIFA Soccer 12 (which has three nominations) and Fight Night Champion (which also has three).
In total, 28 Canadian-made games are up for awards, whittled down from 100 entrants. Other games with multiple nominations include Tales From Space: About a Blob with three, while Need for Speed: The Run, Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, Capsized, Sissy's Magical Ponycorn Adventure, Super Stickman Golf and To The Moon garnered two each. A complete list of nominees is available on the CVA website, which also gives fans the opportunity to vote for their pick for Game of the Year.
The Awards, which aim to "celebrate Canada's spot on the world stage as a leader in interactive entertainment", take place in Vancouver on Saturday, April 21 as part Fan Expo Vancouver. David Hayter -- voice of Metal Gear's Solid Snake -- hosts.
