Today Atlus announced a western release date for Catherine, a peculiar psychological-horror-meets-Qbert kind of game, out in Japan already for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Despite previous comments to the contrary, Atlus announced that Catherine would be hitting North American shores in the summer of this year.  They also announced an english game site, which is slated to be 'coming soon'.

Catherine, already out in Japan, is a peculiar mix of puzzle and horror-style gameplay. As Vincent, you must navigate the vertical labyrinths of you own nightmare-addled head, chased by giant, horrible creatures and guided by peculiar bipedal sheep. It has some names attached to it that fans of the Shin Megami Tensei RPG series should appreciate, such as the acclaimed musical composer Shoji Meguro, character artists Shigenori Soejima, as well as the producer of Persona 3 and 4, Katsura Hashino. It alos boasts coop and competitive multiplayer modes, as well as leaderboards.
