A letter reportedly sent to Gamestop reveals that Ubisoft plan to implement a Season Pass for Assassin's Creed III, which provides "better value" for the game's DLC. The letter also divulged that Ubisoft are creating another team which will work on "post-launch episodic content".
Sent in thanks to Gamestop after the retailer achieved pre-order goals for the title, the letter informed staff that "we are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin work on post-launch episodic content... With a dedicated team specifically to this content we plan to set the bar for quality DLC in our industry". You can see the full letter on Kotaku.
This would indicate that a significant amount of downloadable content will be available for the game after it hits shelves later this year, and the mention of episodic content seems to suggest that a good deal of it will be of the single-player variety.
