Indie Spotlight: Outlast Review (PC)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.0 out of 10

Since Halloween is coming, it's a great opportunity to get a gang of horror lovers together and spend the evening experiencing all the scares, squicks, and silly moments that Outlast has to offer. Award a prize to the person who can summarize the ending in the most hilarious way. It's a good time, cheaper than a night at the movies, and it's a bonding experience akin to a game of Cards Against Humanity. Read More.

Disney Infinity Review (PS3)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.5 out of 10

There's no denying that, in the right hands, Disney Infinity is a lot of fun. If you're not sure your kid will take to it, try out a friend's game, or see how little Bobby or Suzy responds to an in-store demo first. Like any major investment you want to last for a while, you should really test drive it first... unless your kid is already utterly mad for the game, in which case, you won't be disappointed, although you will be poorer. Like many Disney experiences, Disney Infinity might be expensive, but it provides value for that money. They've created an empire on a series of premium products. Back when Disneyland was built, many people didn't think anyone would pay that kind of money to go on rides, but Disney made it work. Read More.

The Last of Us Review (PS3)

By Liana Kerzner () - 9.5 out of 10

If you're not completely sick of zombies, The Last of Us is a no-brainer purchase. If you are sick of zombies, there's still a whole lot to like here. There's also the consideration of the sheer technical achievements PS3 fans have come to love which will make this game a must-see for video game aficionados. Read More.

Guacamelee! Review (PS3)

By Liana Kerzner () - 9.0 out of 10

Guacamelee! accomplishes what it sets out to do remarkably well. It reminded me of the artistry required to make a limited set of 2D tools into memorable experiences, and even the fights I needed help with were a nostalgia trip. Read More.

Drip Drip Review (PC)

By Liana Kerzner () - 9.0 out of 10

Yes, the name is really odd, and no, it has nothing to do with heroin, though it is addictive. Drip Drip is a 2D strategy game where the object is to stop leaks from flooding the basements of various buildings during bad rain storms, by catching the water drips in various containers and emptying them at intervals out of windows. Wreckateer Review (X360)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.0 out of 10

The Kinect is one of the most inspiring and disappointing gadgets in recent history. The possibilities inherent in it are incredible, but due to various cost realities and Microsoft's track record of never making quite the product they promised, there's a nagging feeling that the Kinect should be way cooler than it is. Warlock: Master of the Arcane Review (PC)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.5 out of 10

A great part of being a game reviewer is that you don't just play the games you want. Sometimes you take one just because it needs to get done and you discover a hidden gem that you really love. That's how I feel about Warlock: Master of the Arcane. I wouldn't have bought it on my own in a million years – the post-Lord of the Ring glut of sword and sorcery stuff is wearing on me, and I'm still playing Civilization V. Read More.

Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixer Adventure Review (X360)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.5 out of 10

If you don't think Pixar movies are cool, it's possible you don't have a soul. So Kinect Disney/Pixar Rush had a lot going for it out of the gate. But too many E-for-everyone rated titles are actually not quite for anyone, so this game required some unique field testing. Read More.

Gratuitous Tank Battles Review (PC)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.0 out of 10

Reviewing games can be an unnatural endeavor. Reviewers are expected to use highly technical descriptors to show that we know what we're talking about and that anyone should pay attention. But the reality is that the technobabble is relatively useless to a large portion of the population. Read More.

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action Review (PC)

By Liana Kerzner () - 6.0 out of 10

I've liked tactics games ever since Broderbund's The Ancient Art of War. ...I either really dated myself or scored major geek cred with that admission. I understand that anything with tactics at its core involves slow progress and a lot of failure. I don't need terribly whiz bang graphics or sound, since I got hours of enjoyment from a game from 1984. Read More.

Gears of War 3 Review (X360)

By Liana Kerzner () - 9.5 out of 10

The release of Gears of War 3 could be coined "Submergence Day", since so many gamers are going to disappear into their gaming holes and not come out until they finish it. I admit, that's what I did. Read More.

Dragon Age II Review (X360)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.5 out of 10

Second games in a trilogy are problematic for every franchise. The question of how much to keep, what to get rid of, and how many new things to add is far more art than science. Dragon Age: Origins was such a triumph of an RPG that its sequel was unlikely to measure up no matter what it did. Read More.

Bulletstorm Review (X360)

By Liana Kerzner () - 8.5 out of 10

The story goes something like this: Ultimate Universe Wolverine and an Asian version of the T-800 Terminator seek revenge on a well-dressed version of Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann from Full Metal Jacket. Along the way they meet a gal who's a potty-mouthed jailbait cross between Lara Croft and Zoey from Left 4 Dead. Read More.
