When we at GamingExcellence got our hands on Hydrophobia at E3 2010 our reactions were somewhat mixed. Some of the journalists were enamored with the water physics, the sense of danger that the game provided and just how good the game looked for a downloadable title. Read More.
A lot of people tend to pick on Darksiders by claiming it to be derivative and not worth the time. It's derided as a Legend of Zelda clone that rips off as many games as possible. As my boss said in his original review of Darksiders for the consoles, originality is overrated. Read More.
It's a rare day that I no longer want to play a video game. Oh sure I might not like a game that I'm playing but there are only a very rare few games that have made me never want to play them again. Playing through games like this becomes a bit of torture akin to having teeth pulled by a drunken dentist on the back of an ATV driving off-road. Read More.
The Tomb Raider series has had a ridiculous amount of ups and downs. The first few PlayStation games and the later re-launch of the series were just incredible games while one can never forget some of the worst ones. Seriously, Angel of Darkness... just wow. But when Lara hits her highs she really does them well and that is what Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a runaway success and one of the best Xbox Live Arcade games released this year. Point and click games are something of a lost art. Oh sure people still make them but these are mostly relegated to European developers who make some pretty obtuse games with the genre. But back in the heyday of the venerable Amiga, when PC gaming was first taking off these types of games were huge. Read More.
Before we get into this review, as a responsible reviewer I have to admit to being a Shin Megami Tensei fan boy. I've played every game that's available in English as well as some of the Japanese games. In addition to that I've written a rather exhaustive guide to the original Persona 3 that took four playthroughs and spent hundreds of hours with the original game as well as its updated version, Persona 3 FES. Quite often while playing games you will find that one element of the game seems to thrive while others don't fare quite as well. These are usually the result of game developers choosing to focus on making a game with awesome run-and-gun gameplay over pithy storylines or penning an over-dramatic storyline with awesomely boring game mechanics. Every so often a game will come completely out of nowhere. It slides in right under the radar and manages to take you totally by surprise. These games are often made by new or up and coming development studios that most people really don't pay enough attention to and yet they manage to make games like Darksiders. Read More.
Ever since I saw Dante's Inferno at E3 2009 I've been incredibly excited for it. Heck I'd even go so far as to say that I was more excited for it than I was for God of War III. Dante appeared to be on a quest of personal redemption as well as to recover his lost love, Beatrice. Read More.
As a gamer there's one thing that you never want from your video games - for it to be boring. It's the one thing that you really just can't do anything about, no matter how much you try. Truly great games are rare but it's always pleasant to find out that a game you've purchased turns out to be one. Read More.
There is a huge preconception that must immediately be handled if you're going to ever put your hands on Band Hero. Just because a game has been given a number of songs that would theoretically appeal to a different set of gamers doesn't devalue it for everyone else. Read More.

Mass Effect could be considered one of the more daring games to be released in some time. Taking a story driven RPG featuring one of Bioware's famous morality systems and in-depth storylines with third person shooter elements was a daring proposition but it paid off. Read More.
Let's just start this review with one little note: I don't care what anybody says, the original Army of Two was a pretty good game. It wasn't the best game ever, it didn't redefine any genres and it wasn't some life changing event. However it was a fun, mindless shooter with lots of explosions and guns - sort of the video game equivalent of a Michael Bay movie. Read More.
There's something that I have to admit as an avid fan of action games. It's not easy but I really need to come clean about it. I think the God of War series is fairly overrated. Wait, wait! Put down those tomatoes and give me a chance to explain myself before I'm hung out to dry. Read More.
